We’re Here!

21 08 2008

So we are finally here – I have only been talking about this little adventure for the past 8 months!

I will try to write on this and post pictures and much as possible in order to keep the ones who care, or the ones who have nothing better to do, informed on what is going on here, in the rainbow state.  With the time difference it will be hard to talk to everyone, so I figured this would be fun for me to do and maybe even entertaining for you! —-ps. You all can comment on my blogs after reading them if you would like…

SO After a long and grueling flight we landed in paradise (and got “leid”, it actually does happen) …but it is not all it’s cracked up to be, not what I have seen thus far at least.  It took us about a half hour to get from Honolulu airport to our apartments (yes apartments. Victor and I are in different building about a mile away from one another, though I am guessing I will run into him a few times while I am here J )  – traffic was terrible, not at all what you would expect for an island, more like a congested city.  A city is what I see when I look out my bedroom window.  Well there is also a golf course and a palm tree here and there, but in the end I still see and hear a city outside my window.

I have yet to see victor’s apartment; come to think of it I really have not really seen much of Victor.

After I took a look around my apartment and threw my suite cases down I headed over to campus with my RA and two other guys from Dayton where we met up with the other kids from UD.  We got a free dinner at the student cafeteria and then headed out to wal-mart.  The Chaminade student who drove us all there happened to be the president of the surf club at the university – needless to say it did not take much convincing to get me to sign-up!  Oh and you know I got Victor to commit to it too! C’mon when else can you tell people you were in a surf club??

I have only met one of my roommates, she is from Hawaii, the other two girls who move in tomorrow are also from here, so it should make for some interesting escapades with the natives.  I do not have anyone to share a room with yet, though they can still place someone here with me in the coming weeks.  But let’s hope they don’t so I can stay up late and talk to you guys all night J

We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow – a lot of orientation stuff (boring things no one would really care to read about) though if anything exciting does happen I will let you know.

It a now only 9:30pm Hawaiian time —meaning it’s 3:30am in Cleveland—meaning I have been up for just about 24 hours. It is time for bed. I hope you enjoyed reading about our first adventures in Hawaii and I look forward to hearing from everyone soon!  I can’t wait to tell you more exciting things in the future!!!!!

g’night!
